LISC hosts gathering of community and business leaders to discuss immigration

Dr. Pablo Rodriguez, a prominent community leader and an outspoken advocate for Rhode Island’s Hispanic and immigrant communities, addressed the impact of immigration on Rhode Island's communities.

Providence, RI (5/28/08) - House Majority Leader Gordon Fox, Providence Police Chief Dean Esserman, Residential Properties CEO Sally Lapides, Rhode Island Housing Director Richard Godfrey, United Way COO Armeather Gibbs joined over forty community, business and government leaders gathered at Rhode Island LISC this morning to hear Dr. Rodriguez deliver remarks on the role of immigration as an economic driver for Rhode Island.

Dr. Rodriguez is Associate Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Women & Infants Hospital and former Chairman of the Rhode Island Foundation. He also hosts a popular radio talk show on Latino Public Radio (www.lprri.org).

Rhode Island LISC hosted the gathering to promote awareness of the positive economic and cultural impacts of immigration in Rhode Island. Rhode Island's immigrant communities are a vital component of the ongoing economic revitalization of the communities where LISC works.
