In 2007, Rhode Island LISC raised just under $2 million locally which we used to leverage national dollars into nearly $40 million in investments: a 20 to 1 return on investment for the state of Rhode Island.

Over the past 16 years Rhode Island local Initiatives Support Corporation has established an indisputable track record of success. When Rhode Island LISC was founded in 1991, low-income communities around the state were deteriorating and isolated from the mainstream economy. Thanks to the LISC model -- assembling private and public resources from a diverse base of supporters and investing them in locally defined priorities -- there is now a burgeoning community development industry in Rhode Island which has achieved remarkable results.

Since 1991, Rhode Island LISC has invested over $210 million in underserved communities, resulting in more than 6,000 affordable homes and apartments and nearly 4600,000 square feet of retail and community space, including education and recreational facilities.
