Providence Mayor David Ciccilline and RI LISC Director Barbara Fields look on as Congressman Patrick Kennedy delivers $500,000 in federal support to National LISC’s CSI programs.

Our Policy Work

Beyond our direct investments, LISC plays a major role as a policy advocate working to bring additional capital and resources into low-income communities.

Rhode Island Local Initiatives Support Corporation works with city, state and federal leaders to deliver resources and policies that support the work of Community Development Corporations (CDCs) and other community organizations working to improve the quality of life and economic opportunities in low-income neighborhoods.

Vote Yes on 9

In 2006, LISC and our partners in the HousingWorks coalition celebrated a major policy victory with the passage of the ever statewide housing bond. This $50 million bond for affordable housing passed in all 39 cities and towns.
